A Coleta Seletiva e a geração de renda.

O mundo todo (sim, o Brasil também) hoje vivencia uma realidade assustadora – como é grande a quantidade de lixo que o ser humano produz. Isto é um fato, mas, para muitas famílias, o lixo não é algo desprezível ou sujo, e sim, fonte importante de renda.

Aliás, o termo “lixo” já está ultrapassado. Hoje o mundo chama o “lixo” de rejeitos e resíduos sólidos.

E é desses rejeitos e resíduos que muitos catadores e cooperativas conseguem seu sustento. Aquele “lixo”, se destinado da maneira correta para reciclagem, gera empregos e renda, criando um verdadeiro impacto socioambiental.

 Nos dias de hoje a reciclagem é fundamental. Segundo a Associação Brasileira de Empresas de Limpeza Pública e Resíduos Especiais (ABRELPE), a produção de “lixo” no Brasil vem crescendo em torno de 1,7% ao ano. A destinação apropriada e a reciclagem destes materiais são o caminho para reduzir esse crescimento.

Hoje, 80% dos resíduos e rejeitos que o mundo produz podem ser reciclados e transformados em novos produtos. Todavia, o Brasil recicla apenas 1,2% de todos os resíduos produzidos.

Quando se trata de separação adequada e reciclagem desses resíduos, devemos falar também da compostagem, que é um processo biológico para transformar matéria orgânica em adubo e fertilizantes naturais. A maior parte da matéria orgânica produzida, como cascas de alimentos, sobras de comidas e restos orgânicos industrias devem ser recicladas e transformadas através da compostagem que é considerada a reciclagem do material orgânico. Assim, o reaproveitamento dos rejeitos e resíduos sólidos podem ser otimizados.

Então, podemos observar que a maioria dos materiais que se tornam rejeitos ou resíduos sólidos, de alguma maneira, podem ser reutilizados, gerando empregos e renda para famílias de colaboradores, além de um meio ambiente saudável, diminuindo a exploração de novos recursos ambientais.
